Checked the mailbox today and got a treat! My copy of the newest issue of Houston Brides. This is a great wedding magazine with top notch vendors to select from. I'm so honored that several of my couples got featured in the magazine. Congrats to the Love Lee couples who made it to the "Hitched in Houston" section of Modern Luxury's Houston Brides!

December 29, 2009 // weddings
I can't think of a better way to have ended my 2009 weddings than with Nicole and Jeremy. Nicole and Jeremy are so easy going, laid back, and down to earth. And on their wedding day they knew that all that mattered was that they were going to promise to love each other for the rest of their lives. I don't want to talk too much about the day...I'll save that for when you get to see all my faves from the wedding. In the mean time, here are some shots we took later in the evening after the sun had gone. It was a chilly night, but that just made Nicole and Jeremy hold each other even tighter :)

Did everyone have a wonderful Christmas? I hope so! Madeline attended lots and lots of family parties, but Edmond and I made sure that we were home Christmas Eve so she could open her gifts from Santa and she LOVED them! She got a giraffe and her 1st Winnie the Pooh bear! I have to post two images though so you can see her expression when she saw her new friend, Pooh, for the first time. And then she showed her new toys some love with some sweet Maddy hugs!

December 14, 2009 // photography

***December 31, 2009*** I didn't get any valid entries for my contest so I don't have a winner to announce. But that's okay! I'm gonna think this one through again and maybe revise my "Giving is Awesome" campaign.   Christmas time isn't the only time of year we should think about giving. Keep watching my blog for updates!

***HAVE A HAPPY NEW YEAR!***

You know someone. You know someone who's experienced a tragedy, is struggling to stay afloat, is raising kids while holding down more than one job, or is volunteering selflessly despite extenuating personal circumstances. You know someone who can't afford custom photography, but who would cherish it this holiday season. You know someone who deserves a year-round reminder of their family's spirit, love, and beauty.

You know someone. I guarantee it.

I want to know who they are, and I want to give them the chance to experience complimentary custom wedding photography -- $2000 worth, to be exact. You see, the winner will receive:

*6 hours of wedding coverage,

*2 photographers (myself + 1 assistant photographer),

*[1] portrait session (for engagements or bridals),

*Online galleries,

*Enhanced, print-ready images on disc,

*$150 product credit

It's in your power to give them the artwork they deserve this holiday season.

Oh, and the best part? The person who nominates the winner receives a $300 portrait session for 2010. What better reason to show some love could there possibly be, people?

The rules:

* You cannot nominate yourself, and the person nominated must sincerely be incapable of purchasing my services. (Being unable to make mortgage payments for a two-million-dollar-vacation-home in Paris does not qualify as sincere financial need.)

* The nominee must reside in Houston, Texas. (Houstonians you know Houston - this means that Sugar Land, Katy, Pearland, The Woodlands are all included). Tell me who you know, what they're experiencing, and why they deserve my artwork. Please include a way to contact both your nominee and yourself as well.

*Prizes are not redeemable for cash and they're non-transferable.

*I can't already be booked for your date.

* You must e-mail me the full story: givelove@loveleephotography.com

Nominations must be received by Christmas Day. The winner will be announced on December 31, 2009 -- get nominating! I can't wait to read all of your entries!

Open your heart to someone this holiday season -- and thanks for giving me the opportunity to open mine.

With love,

Margaret Lee

Rats! I sent you a story, but I know it's too late. I didn't think they were going to get married this year. It was supposed to be next year.

Wow what a busy month for Love Lee! But it's been all worth it because I've had a great time shooting some fun weddings. I've also been shooting some great family portrait sessions!

First off let me leave you with some sneak peeks! Melissa and Derek had a charming ceremony at the Heritage Society in downtown Houston. They topped it off with a spectacular reception at the Majestic Metro. Highlights of the night: the Beatles tribute band, the jello shot groom's cake, and the greatest group sing-along to Journey's "Don't Stop Believing!" Lisa and Ben's sweet ceremony was followed by a Midsummer Nights Dream themed reception at the University of St. Thomas. Highlights of the night: An awesome re-enactment of Michael Jackson's "Thriller" video, two little kids re-enacting the couple's first dance, the greatest group sing-along to Miley Cyrus's "Party in the USA!" Two super fun weddings!

Finally let me introduce you to the Kolle's. Joana and I have been BFF's since we were 13 years old, so of course when she asked me to photograph her family, I said, "Absolutely!" She and her husband, Bracken, have been married over ten years already and if you ever met them, you'd swear they were still newlyweds! They've got the greatest kids too. Bell (who I have the honor of calling my goddaughter) and Brice who are some of the greatest kids I know!
And of course...my baby love! She was sleeping like this when I took this picture. I wonder what she was dreaming of. LOL!

November 27, 2009 // personal
It's post turkey day and my family is here at my house. We're snacking on leftovers and it's one of my favorite parts of Thanksgiving - the post Thanksgiving breakfast! As we all gather around in my kitchen again, I'm reminded again of how blessed I've been this year. I'm thankful for my greatest blessing, my daughter, Madeline. I'm thankful for my supportive and loving husband, my awesome and quirky family, my great friends, and last, but not least, my awesome clients who choose to trust me with one of the most important days in their lives!

Here are some pictures of some of the simple things in life I'm so thankful for this year: the oh-so-delicious food we ate yesterday (and are still eating today), my cousin Jill helping me peel the yams, my mom chopping away, the famous pot on my stove that's older than I am and has cooked thousands of our family meals, my beautiful daughter who is now eating rice cereal (she's all grown up...sniff sniff), our good (and ridiculously skinny) friend Abby who came from Las Vegas to spend the holiday with us, my crazy Auntie Neng who got in some treadmill time before the big feast, my beautiful and talented cousin Danica and my sweet husband holding our baby while she sleeps.

Enjoy :)
